Why Teach Yoga + The Art of Teaching: Focus on Standing Poses.

In this module, you will come into deep awareness of your own inspiration to teach. You will also get to know your fellow trainees, who will likely become lifelong friends. This kickoff weekend will be an incredible first step into your training and developing this journey together. We will also assess standing poses. These are the key to healthy movement patterns. In each module, we will look at anatomy, sequencing, warming up for and warming down from the poses of focus and modifications for injuries. Finally, we will consider the logical spiritual ties to the groups of poses, as we practice teach them to one another. If time, hands on assists will be considered and practiced as well.

The Art of Teaching: Focus on Forward Bend and Hip Opening

Forward bends and hip balancing will be the focus of this module. Forward folds can create a sense of security in the practitioner. Hip balancing is key to creating a practice for your students that will yield longevity in well being and mobility. Understanding these poses and this anatomical principle will create a sound foundation for your yoga classes.

The Art of Teaching: Focus on Backbends

Back bends often allow the heart center to awaken and open. The heart center is considered the most powerful energy center. In this module, we will deep dive into backbends, how to warm up properly, how to neutralize after (and why), and how to warm down effectively. As backbends help keep the heart open, and an open heart often leads to a joyful, connected life, this is one of our favorite weekends.

The Art of Teaching: Focus on Arm Balances and Inversions

Arm balances and inversions, when properly practiced and carefully taught, can be empowering and exhilarating. In this module, trainees can expect to learn the building blocks of arm balances and inversions, assisting strategies, and safe/effective sequencing for all levels, i.e. how to properly warm up for and warm down from them, so the joints are safe and sound, ready and primed, and nurtured in the process. These poses cause the body to release endorphins, as such, they are of critical importance in any given sequence. This module will help trainees gain a sense of confidence in teaching and offering them.
