Sonia’s yoga journey began while she was living in Arizona where she completed her undergraduate degree. Her practice continued to grow and develop as her corporate career flourished. Family and career required her to relocate from Arizona, to Oklahoma, and then to Minnesota where her daughter was born in 2012. While juggling executive demands at work fulltime she found balance, support and community through her Prenatal Yoga practice. Connecting with other new mommas through Yoga helped her find union and peace with both her changing body and role as a mother. In 2016 amid one of life’s storms; family and career brought her back to the place of her birth, Texas.
However, it was when she found The Sanctuary Yoga Room that she finally felt at home. Inspired by a renewed sense of family and purpose she embarked on the next evolution of her yoga journey by completing Rebecca Butler’s Dreamcatcher 200 Hour Teacher Training in 2017. The training and mentoring she received has been priceless in expanding her understanding of yoga for herself and her students. Her love of the water and challenge lead her to complete her 25 Hour Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Yoga Training in 2018. Sonia’s corporate experience and mother’s heart creates a uniquely supportive environment for her students to practice. Her intention for each class is that each student leaves the class more centered, more focused and ready for whatever life may bring that day.
