Cacao & Kundalini

Heart Opening Extravaganza

with Adriane Wolf & Jyl Kutsche

Saturday Feb. 13 2-5pm

Cacao (ka-kow) is a Sacred and Medicinal plant and an ancient teacher and facilitator that assists you with the journey into your heart. Cacao was known to the Ancient Mayans as a powerful heart opener and potent healer.

Chocolate is widely known as an aphrodisiac and this understanding of how it opens our hearts is by no means new. The Aztecs often spoke of Cacao as ‘yollotl, eztli’, meaning “heart, blood”. Western science reinforced this by giving it the scientific name Theobroma Cacao, which means “The Food of the Gods”. What else would the food of the Gods be but love?

Raw cacao is also the most powerful antioxidant in the world, and is the ONLY known food where you will find therapeutic levels of magnesium and the chemical Anandamide, aka the LOVE chemical. (In Sanskrit, Ananda is translated as ‘bliss’) It results in feelings of pleasure and euphoria and also plays a role in moderating pain perception and memory of pain as well as improving consciousness and creativity as it increases blood flow to the heart and brain by up to 40%.

Cacao, when used with awareness, gives us time and space away from the busyness of the world & an opportunity to go on our own inward journey. Cacao is a gentle plant medicine, acting as a vasodilator on the smooth cardiac tissue, so literally it helps to open our heart. As the anatomical heart space is opened, it creates an opportunity for our energic heart to open as well, offering us an doorway into the places deep within where healing is needed; but it will not push us through until we’re ready.

Kundalini Yoga is an ancient technology that is designed to expand awareness and tap into our infinite potential. Kundalini Yoga balances the glandular system and enables us to harness the energy of the mind and emotions.

This practice also balances the chakra system and opens the heart center allowing the practitioner to move through obstacles on many levels. Kundalini Yoga uses physical movement, breath-work, meditation and mantra to achieve an experience of our highest consciousness.

The combination of Cacao Ceremony and Kundalini Yoga is perfect for diving deep inside and unleashing our own raw energy, so we can experience the bliss of who we really are: pure love and pure consciousness!

*Note: Antidepressants can be contraindicated when consuming raw cacao. Please contact Jyl to find out if this could be a concern for you.

In order to get the most out of the experience, it is advised to not eat (or eat lightly) several hours before the workshop begins. Cacao is a mild diuretic, so please bring water as well as a journal or any writing materials you might want to use during the ceremony.

understanding sequencing through practice + basic architecture of poses

not recommended for complete beginners

There is so much yoga being thrown around without the basic understanding of how to compose a healthy and intelligent flow of poses. Through a range of practices this weekend, we will begin to uncover the essential principles of a seamless single class as we follow a logical progression over the course of the three days. Whether you are a teacher or a student, we will explore many connections that will inspire and that will spark new levels of curiosity. We can sequence for an emotional effect, for a peak pose, for mental and physical balance, for pranayama, for meditation, or for countless other topics. Come join us and learn and feel the underlying themes of sequencing.

***If booking for more than one person, please do so by calling 817 330 6969 otherwise the second person will not appear on the roster and their space will not be allocated***

Rodney Yee has been curious about the mind and body for as long as he can remember. He was a gymnast, a ballet dancer, and a philosophy and physical therapy major. Following the thread of curiosity about mind and body, he took his first yoga class in 1980. He went to yoga in search of flexibility and found a practice that would turn into his life-long passion and career. In 1981, Rodney began to study yoga full time at the San Francisco Iyengar Yoga Institute and at The Yoga Room in Berkeley. In 1987, after becoming a certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher, he opened the Piedmont Yoga Studio in Oakland, CA, with Richard Rosen and Claire Finn. Rodney has been featured in over 30 video titles and numerous audio recordings with Gaiam. He has written two books, Yoga: the Poetry of the Body and Moving Toward Balance: 8 Weeks of Yoga with Rodney Yee, both in collaboration with Nina Zolotow.

Colleen Saidman’s introduction to yoga was at the urging of a roommate who convinced her to attend a class at a loft space in New York City. It was not long after that first class that her worn out running shoes, her basketball, and her boxing gloves became relics of the past. And in 1994, after enduring back surgery, Colleen’s commitment to her yoga practice deepened. Colleen graduated from Jivamukti’s Teacher Training program in 1998 and has been teaching ever since. She has been featured in The New York Times and New York Magazine and has also been on the cover of Yoga Journal. A consummate student, Colleen has travelled throughout Europe and Asia studying alternative medicine and spiritual healing. Colleen holds a certification in Shiatsu and lived in Calcutta, India, working with Mother Theresa at the Home of the Destitute and Dying. Colleen owes tremendous gratitude for her studies of bhakti and vinyasa to David Life and Sharon Gannon. She also offers thanks to the many other teachers with whom she has studied, including Rodney Yee. She runs Yoga Shanti Yoga Studio in Sag Harbor, New York.

Don’t miss your chance to study with Rodney Yee + Colleen Saidman Yee at The Sanctuary Yoga Room in Fort Worth, TX Apr 16-17!

Rebecca Butler Yoga Teacher Training

A 200 Hr Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher Training

Choose Joy.

Rebecca Butler believes that yoga is a wildly creative, deeply sensual, meditative healing art form that can awaken both the practitioner and the teacher to their ability to create the life of their dreams by connecting to and honoring their most authentic selves and the spirit that dwells within.

Rebecca has studied with multiple masters. She has studied 350 hours with Baron Baptiste and is certified in Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga. She has studied 350 hours with Ana Forrest in Forrest Yoga. And she has trained 100 hours with Rodney Yee & Colleen Saidman Yee. She has also done trainings and workshops with multiple other master teachers.

She blends this learning in her teaching. This means trainees will learn more than just one style. Trainees will also learn how to sequence classes safely and soundly that are exhilarating, challenging and fulfilling for every level of student, even those with injuries, those who are pregnant, and those who have anxiety issues, plus more.

Rebecca has also been a fanatic about studying the spiritual side of yoga and life in general. In 2012, she lost her mother to ALS. In that journey, she learned the importance of celebrating your health and your mobility, the deeply profound healing nature of breath and the critical nature of living each day to the fullest, without fear, without regret and without sorrow. She interweaves spirituality into our writing and teaching. She will teach trainees how to do the same, in a way that is authentic to their own journey, beliefs and purpose.

Do not do this training if all you want to do is learn how to do a handstand. This training will be that and so much more.

Do not do this training if you are dogmatic about any one style of yoga. This training will incorporate deep love and respect for all styles, including flow based styles, slow, longer hold styles, restorative yoga and chair yoga.

Do not do this training if you are super serious and afraid of laughter and joy. This training will be, above all else, fun and packed with infinite possibilities that bring all participants grace and ease.

The greatest gift we can give this world is the happiest version of ourselves that we can possibly be. The ultimate goal of this Yoga Teacher Training is to help you get abundantly clear with what it means for you to embody just that and to give you the tools to spread that awareness amongst the globe, thereby raising the vibration of the planet.
