Many of the teachers at The Sanctuary Yoga Room teach amazing yoga workshops locally and travel to present events as well. They are featured in festivals and conferences throughout the year. The Sanctuary Yoga Room events and workshops are born of passion, honesty, creativity and desire. They encompass elements of the physical practice, spirituality, mediation, goal planning, nutrition and more. These teachers are voracious in their studies and joyful in their teaching. UNDERSTANDING SEQUENCING THROUGH PRACTICE + BASIC ARCHITECTURE OF POSES

Description

There is so much yoga being thrown around without the basic understanding of how to compose a healthy and intelligent flow of poses. Through a range of practices this weekend, we will begin to uncover the essential principles of a seamless single class as we follow a logical progression over the course of the three days. Whether you are a teacher or a student, we will explore many connections that will inspire and that will spark new levels of curiosity. We can sequence for an emotional effect, for a peak pose, for mental and physical balance, for pranayama, for meditation, or for countless other topics. Come join us and learn and feel the underlying themes of sequencing.

Session Details

Open twist to backbends  with Rodney Yee + Colleen Saidman Yee
Date: Saturday April 16, 2016
Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

How are these poses related and how do they integrate into a seamless sequence? We will work toward deeper backbends by using open twists as preparatory poses. See and feel how the architecture of open twists complement the spinal movements of back bending. Through understanding the relationship between these two categories of poses, so much is revealed about each separate category.

 


Inversions: facing your fears  with Rodney Yee + Colleen Saidman Yee

When we approach poses that are foreign, it is important to do so systematically so that fear doesn’t take over the exploration. What is the plan to tackle inversions? What are the logical steps? How can we have fun with these challenging poses? A step-by-step progression of how to approach and practice these poses will be offered. Come and learn the steps so these poses will be at your service. Fear can be deconstructed.

 


Yoga for Life :  Book Signing Soiree  with Rodney Yee + Colleen Saidman Yee

Colleen Saidman Yee published her first book in the Summer of 2015. She will sign copies of her book and general mingling will ensue in our fabulous courtyard. This event will be catered with light snacks and music will be provided as well.


Hip openers, arm balances + forward bends  with Rodney Yee + Colleen Saidman Yee
Date: Sunday April 17, 2016

Come join us to investigate the connection between these three categories of poses while simultaneously addressing our fears. Step by step, we will deconstruct to demystify some of the poses that build courage. We will then use this strength to go inwards to know ourselves more intimately. We will play, have fun, explore, and discover together.

 


Urban zen restorative  with Rodney Yee + Colleen Saidman Yee

We will practice to feel the magic of specific restorative poses intermixed with essential oil therapy, Reiki, in-body meditations, and breath awareness to give you the deepest relaxation of your life. Get introduced to the Urban Zen method that is spreading through the health care industry and lays the foundation for optimal wellness.
