‘A’ is for Alkaline. 

Our body is designed to be alkaline.  The pH of our important fluids such as our blood is designed to be at a pH of 7.365, which is slightly alkaline.

Maintaining the balance of alkalinity and acidity in our bodies and tissues is one of the most important roles of nutrition and is key to fighting aging and weight gain.

All foods leave either an alkaline or an acidic residue in the bloodstream due to whether they contain more alkaline or more acid minerals.  We recommend you start your morning each day with warm water and lemon to “awaken” the digestive system and set your body to a healthy pH level of 7.365.  Many people say to us, “aren’t lemons acidic?”  The answer is, yes, they are acidic by nature, but when digested or in our systems, they leave it in an alkaline state.

We purposely designed this cleanse to help re-set your bodies to a natural alkaline state by having you eat a diet rich in alkaline-forming foods.  The human body THRIVES on foods that promote blood alkalinity and help neutralize the acidic waste products of metabolism.  It is important to note that most all ailments and illnesses in the human body, stem from an acidic environment.  So, enjoy the cleanse knowing that your body is working to be re-set to it’s natural god-given state.  Following is a chart that shows alkaline and acidic foods.

7:00am Breakfast:

Alkaline open faced sandwich

1 slice of sprouted bread, spelt or gluten-free

¼ avocado

fresh parsley

½ cucumber

½ tomato

handful of alfalfa sprouts

drizzle of olive oil

pinch of Celtic or Himalayan sea salt and cracked pepper

Wash all toppings, slice the cucumber, tomato and avocado.  Layer as desired on bread.  I like to mash the avocado first, add cucumber and tomato and sprinkle with s & p, top with basil or parsley and top with sprouts.

10 am Snack:

Watermelon slush smoothie

1 small watermelon

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

Cut the watermelon into small chunks and freeze 3 cups overnight Blend the frozen watermelon and the almond milk in a blender.

12:00 noon  Lunch:

Cucumber and dill salad

5 cucumbers, peeled and thinly sliced

1 red onion, diced

2 bunches chopped dill, stems removed (save ¼ cup of your dill for next day)

Dressing:

½ cup raw apple cider vinegar

2 Tablespoons Olive Oil

½ cup fresh lemon juice

1 T sea salt

5 cloves garlic, peeled

In a large mixing bowl, combine all of the salad ingredients and blend all the dressing ingredients in a blender until smooth.  Pour the dressing over the salad, mix well and serve.

 

Ingredient tip:

Apple Cider Vinegar has some amazing researched benefits to help with conditions, such as:

Diabetes — it lowers blood glucose levels

Cholesterol — it reduces cholesterol levels

Obesity — it promotes weight loss and gives a feeling of being full.

Cancer — it kills or slows the growth of cancer cells.

Apple Cider Vinegar can also be used topically to help with dandruff; acne; dull hair; and muscle swelling, ache and pains.

3:00pm Snack: Cream of Celery Soup

2 cups almond milk

2 cups celery chopped

2 cloves garlic, peeled

¼ cup fresh lemon juice

2 tsp sea salt

In a high speed blender, combine all of the ingredients and blend until smooth.  Pour into a serving bowl.  Using a ladle remove and discard any foam that rises to the top and any celery strings.

6-7:00pm Dinner: Raw Salad

3-4 medium zucchini, chopped

2 cups lettuce

½ cucumber, diced

1 medium garlic clove, chopped very finely

1 chopped tomato, deseeded

red onion to your liking

½ jalapeno (optional) seeds removed and diced

juice of 1 lime

¼ tsp Celtic or Himalayan sea salt

2 teaspoons olive oil

2 tablespoons lemon juice

Toss all ingredients together and add lemon & lime juice and olive oil

At this stage, you are essentially undergoing a purification. It is a good idea to be gentle with yourself. Hire a baby-sitter, take naps, read books and go to bed early. When you attend yoga, be kind. Take child’s pose as often as your body requires. Take plenty of breaks to drink water. You are essentially in a mini-wellness retreat. Make every effort in the evening’s to relax and enjoy “doing” nothing. Take a hot salt bath. Dim the lights. Light candles. Soak. Take moments throughout the day to really stop and feel this day, this hour, this minute. Allow this time to deeply nourish and revitalize you. You are worthy of unconditional love, simply because you exist! XO
